PADDY, "PADDAROTTI"
There are few creatures human/dog who have meant so much to us as Paddy. He was the first puppy after Ingela died and immediately made his presence felt in the litter. He is charming and very energetic. In his waking moments he has everything under control. He wanders the house, including the cellar, protecting us from intruders of any kind. Mice/rats/others haven't a chance.
We never lock our doors. One night the hall door blew open, Paddy flew out through the opening and woke up the neighbourhood. We looked out the window and saw a deer running past the house with Paddy in chase.
Paddy is a good example of the low slung, old type Clumber Spaniel. He is decended, through his mother, Patsy from the modern working Clumber Spaniel. Ingela imported Patsy from England in 2002. Patsy is from a background of working Clumber Spaniels from the fields of England. His father, Gimli, the quietest and sweetest soul on earth is of Swedish/American stock. Patsy, Gimli, Paddy and the litter are "clear" in hips, elbows and eyes. Their temerament is one of the soft, easy, sleepy type but when the door bangs they're up and off. Paddy is the greatest swimmer in the world according to Chris Page, the English working trainer, you can't get better than that !The name Paddarotti came about at a dog show in Gothenburg in 2007 when someone came up to us and said that their dog howled to music. I said that our dogs sang when I sang O Sole Mio. I then started singing O Sole Mio and Paddy immediately began "his version"
A crowd gathered and when we were finished some shouted "Paddarotti". The name stuck.

Paddy will not be used as a stud dog until the end of 2012. The reason for this is that we're waiting for other Clumber Spaniels to "breed out" The longer we wait, the better the chance that Paddy can be put to a Clumber bitch which is distantly related to him.
